Announcements and Important Events
There have been several questions about the academic eligibility policy. Below is the eligibility information from the sports registration packet:
"I understand that my child shall not participate in any sport until all required forms including the physician's clearance are submitted. I also recognize that student athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to remain eligible to compete. For the purpose of determining academic eligibility, the Athletic Director will check my child's GPA at the end of each six-week grading period prior to the designated Dates of Determination. For the 2016-17 school year those capture dates are: 9/30, 11/18, 12/22, 2/24, 4/21 and 6/8. Student-athletes determined to be academically ineligible will be notified by the Athletic Director and/or designee."
For clarification, the grades used to evaluate eligibility are the same grades that come home on the six week progress reports. No other dates apply; eligibility is not established daily. In addition, to allow for accuracy of those grades and for teachers, students, parents, and the athletic director to review those grades, the grades become official and the principal establishes eligibility on the second Monday following the end of the grading period, the date of determination. That gives all of us time to establish the accuracy of those grades. After the dates of determination, grade changes are not allowed except in the case of errors.
